Officer Gary Deitz dedicated his life to doing the right thing

Gary Deitz, the courageous Minnesota police officer that exposed the East Grand Forks Police Department for deep corruption and savage sadistic beatings of prisoners has died.

Gary contacted me over a year ago and asked me to please help expose the corruption at the East Grand Forks Police Department. He said the local news media was no longer covering the truth and very bad things were happening.
Gary was bullied out of the EGFPD after he told the truth about a near fatal beating of a prisoner he witnessed. He captured a young police officer named Rod Hajicek on tape vowing he would lie to investigators about what he saw. Hajicek is now the ranking officer at the EGFPD.
Gary told me about a former police officer named Curt Ellingson that savagely beat a mentally handicapped man that was crying "I want my mom - I want my mom".
In July of 2016 I featured Gary in a story entitled Congressional Records: Minnesota police officer and congressman alerted FBI to police misconduct and mysterious deaths “Dear Mr. Wellstone: I was a police officer…”
Gary said he used to be threatened by voices on the telephone that said, “The next time you see me I’ll be standing by your bed”.
Gary’s passion in life was to expose the local criminal enterprise within law enforcement that has been murdering people and covering it up. He often spoke of Daryl Sindermann, the teenage boy that was murdered by locals and thrown into a river.
The last time I talked to Gary he was laughing and teasing me about negative comments written on Facebook about me by the sons of Grand Forks Police Chief Mark Nelson.
I only regret I don’t have a photo of Gary in his East Grand Forks Police Department uniform because that is what he was – he was an East Grand Forks Police Officer – and he remained one in his heart until the day he died.
Every time Gary called me the first thing he would say was, “Ya hard at it?”
